The earliest postal net of roadside letterboxes was introduced in Paris in 1653 by Renouard de Villayer, the local post office head.
The bicycle was first used as a means of postal delivery in August 1883. There was a specific type in use in Great Britain, which featured one big wheel and four small ones, the so called ´Barst Medium Bicycle´.
